Fair Weather Friend

You know the one
Always there when the sun shines
or when you find five bucks on the sidewalk

The first time you mention
the creeping sadness in your heart

>>POOF<<
Magic disappearing act
Gone

How are you? they ask
I’m feeling a bit depressed, you reply
. . .

Crickets chirp
You can hear your plants growing
You sigh

Another lonely day
Without the much-needed connection
Right when you need it most

  1. the only thing worse than a fair weather friend is a fair weather partner/lover … it feels like some of lifes hardest lessons involve trust, but where to then if we give up on trusting others?

  2. That’s so hard! Sending you hugs. I’m here for all the ups and downs of being human. Only happiness and sunshine is rather boring and dishonest.
