Approaching Existence

Your velvet breath along my skin,
Draws sighs from my lungs
A deep ache blooms and burns
A crackling flame below
This smile, a smirk of memory
Your voice, low, reminding me
Wickedness sublime
Want unfettered
My neck, bare: hopeful
The heat of your lips, gentle, suckling
A trail of kisses, promises
Even your arms wrapped tight around me
Safety and provision, a nest of comfort
I am betrayed by my heart
Logic holds my reality
Heart holds my future, and so do you

  1. This is so beautifully warm. The imagery is delicious and intimate, with such an embrace of passion, its beauty and tenderness lingers upon you way after reading. I really enjoyed reading this, Tara. You’re a wonderful writer.

  2. something feels very subtle – seduction, desire, promises, safety then betrayal by the element that seemingly wins over all logic and reality … i like at the end the sense of positivity, willingness and even consent pitched against the feeling of a dark undercurrent …

  3. of so many ways to describe breath, as velvet is perfect, and immediately sparks everything that follows into life, in words, emotion and in the physical x
