my hair like fire
my lips, the wind
my breast the sun
and a solar flare
love blooming, bursting
out of my chest
x-rays and hard gamma
desire lifting my eyes
my eyes of the blue ocean
swirling, spilling
salty lust tears
my ribs ache with denial
seeking retrieval
remembering you
thirsty, a blotter begging
hoping, wanting
wishful and dreamy
reflections of spinning galaxies
in every dew drop
every sigh
every time I lick my lips
fire, my hair,
spreading across my pillow
waiting, waiting
for someone just like
you

Working that magic.
I could quote the entire piece as liking it but I absolutely loved this:
thirsty, a blotter begging
hoping, wanting
wishful and dreamy
reflections of spinning galaxies
in every dew drop
every sigh
every time I lick my lips
fire, my hair,
spreading across my pillow
waiting, waiting
for someone just like
you
This is the type of poetry that takes your mind on a journey. Love it!

Thank you, my dear. Some people get stuck in us… then we have to write about them to unstick them. Glad it resonated. Your work always does for me. ❤

That’s exactly it… unstick. I like that.

This is so sensual and beautiful, Tara. I am beyond immersed in the imagery you create, and I especially love this journey you take us on. It’s also kind of sci-fi with the galaxies and gamma rays. Such a beautifully written piece.

“my ribs ache with denial” … who doesn’t know that feeling, and all its ‘friends’ … another ‘heart in the blender’ piece … works that touch are amazing, sometimes that touch is gentle, sometimes not, sometimes it is in how it lands on the individual … loved it.

Thank you for your kind words. Indeed it is that ache and it’s associated friends which drive the piece.

sometimes I wonder why, other times i laugh, that pain is what makes me feel real. how can we ever know happiness, pleasure, joy, without knowing sadness, pain and sorrow – how can we know the coin without knowing both sides? it seems like everything or nothing, and everything is a challenge, nothing is denial. denial is not my friend …

I completely agree. We need to experience all aspects to really appreciate any of it at all. The key is to not stay in that place. To accept all things. How can I love the rain without those sunny days to compare it to? How can I appreciate the smiles without the tears? Acceptance may be the first key.

so true – how often i mourn that we sometimes miss the peace to be found in confrontation, even losing it again in repose.

Exactly. It’s big-picture. Bird’s-eye-view Humanity, really.

Loved this (and hope my comment doesn’t end in spam) poem. The intense longing for “…dreamy reflections of spinning galaxies” especially resonated. 💫 As always, the intensity of your passion is breathtaking and a special gift 💝
