in the bright blinding light
I shiver
never been here before
ripped from the comfort of the womb
soft sounds
always warm
what have I become?
I hear your voice
croons of love
no more screaming
but wait
what am I missing?
coughing, I sputter
you say my name
peace follows
and I breathe
I breathe
I breathe
