my search ended
the moment I first read your name
there before me
in black and white

I stopped dead in my tracks
eyes wide
jaw slack
the first time you spoke my name

my heart stilled paused in silence
became whole
(though I wasn’t aware
I had been missing you)

I wanted you then
I want you even deeper now
for the more you give me
the thirstier I become for you

that strange bedfellow
of all lovers
simultaneously stopped and sped by

as I could suddenly
without force of will
see all my futures possible
in endless succession

as if looking into two mirrors
face to face
we reflected one another
into infinity

now I fast forward
to today and
I can’t imagine another day without you

you are
all my beginnings
all my endings

hold my hand
let’s move together forever
always forward
into the light
