Owning It Outright

when your hand and mine met
for the first time
fingers intertwining
sparks and tingles ran up my arm
I had never felt anything so real
so alive
so electrifying
have we met before?
you answered by pressing
your lips to mine
and suddenly there were
more than pinpricks of light
behind my eyelids
I was wrapped in pure energy
bright white turned slightly blue
and I was transported
to a wide grassy hill
as you lay your head resting upon me
staring up at the endless blue sky
and painted clouds
and from the fencepost
I heard the whippoorwills calling
I knew then
I would never turn away from love again
no, I was owning it outright
from this moment forward
your head upon my belly and
my fingers in your hair
I was frozen in time
you shifted your face and
looked up into my eyes
my heart pounding
I was spellbound and utterly in love

Thank you, Whippoorwills. Here’s #mygifttoyou

You, are one of the most wonderful souls I’ve had the privilege of meeting. There’s no one in this whole wide world quite like you. And I like that. You are unique and lovely and have a wonderful gift for storytelling. There’s a special place in my heart just for you. ~tara

  1. I was somewhat out of sorts when I first read this, Tara. Not entirely myself. You know my way. I could not trust that the voice which wanted to comment was my own.
    Now I can.
I am so moved by this wonderful gift you have given me, Tara Caribou. I am inspired to tears of happiness and joy by its heart felt beauty. My chest swells to aching and I find my soul immersed entirely in bliss.
And there is a very special place in my heart just for you also. I bless the day we first met, either here on this platform or elsewhere while walking the world.
Your influence upon me has been profound indeed and I will treasure this wonderful poem and keep it always near to my heart.
