The Feathered Sleep

nights on nights I lay awake
alone and longing for your arms
your gentle touch
the stroke on my cheek
crystals lay upon my face
make their way to my pillow

I miss you here
behind closed eyes
I see you your hair
spread across your pillow
your soft breathing
the slow spread of your smile
as our eyes meet

I would reach over and caress your shoulder
down your arm and over your hip
you would brush my face
with the back of your hand
I love you, you whispered
before we fell into each other’s arms
soft sensitive lips and
whimpers rising

every night I fell into
the feathered sleep of love’s embrace
peace and dreams and
your arms and legs
cradling my heart, my body

I remember
running my fingers through your hair
and the way your skin smelled
with my own scent
intermingling with yours

I love you, I always have
and I miss you
more than you could ever know

*please remember, this work has nothing to do with or about or towards the blogger mentioned, simply that I used their blog name/title/tagline as a writing prompt.

Thank you, Candice. Here’s #mygifttoyou

You have such a beautiful heart, one in which reaches deep inside my soul and holds it gently. You have this perfect way in which you express love and grief and hurt so gorgeously; it touches my heart daily. I absolutely adore you. ~tara

  1. You know, it occurred to me that this is a great way to be introduced to other writers on WordPress.

On the other hand, this was so loving, so tender and so so lonely. Longing, captured, sublimely, once again, why can’t I stop, with the, commas!?

    1. Oh! Yes! It sure is. Some really great writers I’d like to do this for but they use their name as their blog name and have no tagline or something I can’t get my mind to use…. I thought about doing one that just has a bunch of names intermixed somehow lol

Thank you. This piece was actually quite special to me and the phrase “the feathered sleep” just worked so well here.

(PS, way, way, WAY, too, many, commas!!!!! I’m in a comma-coma!)
