Mother

She runs through the grass and the trees. Moss clings to her feet, the dew damp upon her skin. With ease, she dodges the branches and twigs which stretch out to snag her long flowing hair. She skips deftly over roots and rocks, with barely a thought to her body’s motions. Her feet splash through cold mountain streams. She cares not for bridges but moves through nature organically because she is a part of it. Glancing over her shoulder she sees she has followers of many shapes, sizes, and colors. She stops and turns back to them; her arms out from her sides, she softly beckons to them and they quietly, carefully come forward.

With a smile and heartfelt laugh, they each step forward one at a time and acknowledge her for who she is, the one who loves them and calls them each by their own name. Cold, damp noses and small beady eyes. Soft fur, bristly fur, no fur at all. A touch of a paw here and little lick there. The resting of a deer’s forehead to her chest. She loves them all. Embraces them all. She is a part of them and they her. Turning again, she leads them on, ever forward, ever onward to life eternal.

  1. OMG you have no idea what impact reading this has had on me. Tara. Holy Fuck. FUCK FUCK FUCK FCK AKAKAKAJKABJABJKA ,MAS M,D VM,.
Thank you. You bring me to fucking tears. Today I begin with art, then I move to history, and finish the day with music. First the young who are too young to name, and the last will be my supernatural people, my children who I have named. 🙂
The constellating correlations are beautiful to behold! And overwhelming… I must dive deep into my own currents lets I be swept away by the surface waves… I have to find my place, my space my feet. I cannot let the crashing waves prevent me from being able to stand on the shoreline. Again. OMG NOT AGAIN.

    1. Thanks John! I wrote more on this and then second-guessed its length and just posted this part. I’ve been sitting on it for quite some time, not sure how it would be received for certain reasons. So, knowing that you (and others) appreciate it makes me very happy. 💕

  2. LOL – funny story before I leave a comment. I typed out a response to this once before and then hit “next post” instead of “post comment”. Oops!

I love everything about this write, the form, words, emotions, and theme. I could’ve easily continued on with a broader story. More of this, please!
