Crystal Prisms

My eyes shed crystal prisms of pain
Drip drip dripping
Ever down to where my heart once was
Oh! free me from this agony

How did I come to be in this place
I listened, believed, hoped
Wanted, desired
Put everything, my everything, in

Sucked out, torn
Tossed and shattered
Used, abused, quickly forgotten

Never will I find all the pieces
Never will I once more be whole

I am easily, quickly replaced
Used up, hung up, left
Unimportant or unaware
Either way, I am alone
Drops dripping, healing attempted

My cheeks, always damp
Eyes cast down, away
Don’t lift my chin, dear friend
You won’t like what you see there

Reflections shimmering in dewdrops
Resting momentarily on the brim
Before dashing down, spilling over
They are each, every one, a dream
A hope
A wish

Don’t brush them away
Keep your fucking pity, your kindness
This is me, who I am
My reality, this
My heart still clenches and burns
Breaths in gasps, hitching

I am ashamed

Dirt-stained palms cover my face
Run from the room
Run from your solace and mercy

How easily the words ‘but I love you’
Roll from your lips
Oozing out thick sweet honey
But I know better
You can’t be serious

Because if this is real
This changes everything
Fucking everything

This is me, running again
Please, dear god, please
Don’t follow
Let me go

These tears and I
We just simply aren’t worth it

  1. I knew someone -very dear to me – who felt this way. She did everything she could to push him away. He told her he wasn’t going anywhere. The first little while was rough on both of them. They’ve been happily married for a good many years now…sometimes, there are happy ending hidden in all that pain…❤️

  2. It seems like your feelings are overwhelming you.

Emotions can do that. Especially when they involve love, betrayal, anger, pain.

Sisu: It is a Finnish term that can be roughly translated into English as strength of will, determination, perseverance, and acting rationally in the face of adversity. Sisu is not momentary courage, but the ability to sustain that courage. It is a word that cannot be fully translated.

    What a beautiful word!

Hang in there. Emotions come and go like clouds in the sky. You are strong enough to endure them. Right?

Surrender to them if you must, but always remember that “this too shall pass”. ❤️🙏🏽🌈
