Just say the word
I’ll pick up my skirts
Run far and fast to you
Across the mountains
Over the ocean
I will kick up my heels for you
There’s bread in the oven
Milk on the table
Dishes by the sink
Weeds to be pulled
Livestock unwatered
Beds to be made
And yet even so
At your beckon call
I would leave it all behind
For one phrase, one word
To cross your lips
Come
And I would
Runaway
See how nimble I’ll become!
How fleet of foot!
How my hair will flow behind in my wake!
Now I am lethargic
Barely able to go through motions
Fake a smile
Pretend I care
But then there’s you
You breathe life into me
Color returns to my cheeks
There’s glitter in my eye
Sighs and faraway looks
Oh yes I would leave everything for you
Because it’s nothing without you
Say it, my Love
Outstretch your arm
Take one step towards me
And I
I will close the distance between us
